It’s recommended you rotate your tires about every 8,000 km – which is roughly where we also recommend an oil change. We would be happy to complete both services at the same time.

Knowing when to replace your car tires is crucial for safety and performance. We can let you know if and when your tires need replacing, but you can check for the following signs:
Low tread depth – You can test this by placing a quarter into the tread groove of the tire with the caribou's nose pointing downward. If the tread is below the nose, it's time to start thinking about replacing the tires, especially if you drive in wet or snowy conditions.
Cracks in the sidewall – Check for visible cracks or cuts in the sidewall of the tire. These can indicate that the tire is developing a leak or is at risk of a blowout.
Bulges or blisters – A bulge or blister on the sidewall is a sign that the tire's internal structure is damaged. This could lead to a sudden blowout and should be addressed immediately.
Vibration or thumping – Unusual vibrations or thumping while driving could indicate that the tire is out of balance, has uneven wear, or has internal damage. If balancing the tires doesn’t fix the issue, it might be time for a replacement.
Visible damage – Look for visible signs of damage like punctures, embedded objects, or tears. Even if a puncture is repaired, the tire may still need replacing if the damage is severe or located in a critical area.
Age of the tire – Tires degrade over time, even if they have plenty of tread left. Most manufacturers recommend replacing tires every six to ten years, regardless of tread wear, due to the rubber hardening and losing its effectiveness.
Uneven wear can be a sign of improper inflation, misalignment, or suspension issues. If you notice that your tires are wearing more on one side or in the centre, it may be time to replace them and address the underlying issue.
Mileage – Tires have a recommended mileage range. If you've driven close to or beyond this range, it's a good idea to have your tires inspected and consider replacement.

When the weather indicates that most days are forecast to be less than 10 degrees Celsius or there is regular snow that stays on the ground, it’s time to install your winter tires. Winter tires provide better traction for slippery roads, better ensuring your safety.
Similarly, when the forecast shows signs of warmer weather with temperatures consistently above 10 degrees Celsius, it’s time to switch over to your summer tires. Both sets of tires are specifically designed for their intended season, so keeping them on too long can cause accelerated wear.
Additionally, some provinces require winter tires to be installed between October 1 and March 31 of each year.

There are a number of scenarios where you will want to consider having your tires balanced. These include:
• Vibrations that can be felt in the steering wheel, the floor, or your seat
• Obvious uneven tire wear
• One of the weights on the rim has fallen off
Routine opportunities to have your tires balanced are:
• Every time you have them rotated
• When you replace or repair a tire
• When you buy a new set of tires, or
• Every two years
